Going to the doctor?

i am a type 1 diabetic
and i have a doctors appointment tomoro my A1C was 10.5 last time and they
wanted to hospitalize me but didnt and my sugars wont go down even tho i have
been doin everything rite and i think they r goin to put me in the hospital
2moro and im rely scared...plzz dnt answer unless diabetic or are close to a
diabetic...how do i calm my nerves until 2moro and what do i do if i have to go
to the hospital 2moro cuz im definately gonna cry i cried last time even after
they decided i wasnt goin to the hospital
know that these doctors see your case 15 times ever day. they are there to help
and they know what it will take to get your body to par. its one of those things
in life you just have to swallow your fear and do it because its your health on
the line.
I am a diabetic. don't cry. I was hospitalized also for diabetes. they probably
just want to adjust your medication. i am on insulin twice a day and medications
all day long for it. Just relax. Try to get some sleep. calm down it will be ok.
when i was 1st put in hospital (my suger was over 30in for aweek) i cryed i hate
going into hospital but once your there its ok, everythink will be ok its better
to be on the safe side then somethink happen to you just try and chill out i
promise it will all be ok and if it is not all ok you can come back and slap me
lol
I know this isn't what you want to hear, young Sofy, but if your doctor feels
that you need to go to hospital then you really should do.

It's alright to be upset. Many of us have been upset at one time or another ...
whether that's because we're diabetic or for a totally different reason. No-one
wants to be taken from a place, like your home, where you feel secure and you're
surrounded by friends and family, but sometimes it's for the best.

In hospital, you'll be in a controlled situation where adjustments can be made
to the amount of insulin that you'll be injecting, blood tests can be carried
out to test things are going according to plan, testing can also be done to find
out if there's another reason why you're experiencing problems in controlling
your diabetes. There are a few conditions that can make it more difficult, plus
you could be getting adverse reactions from any medications that you're
presently taking.

I understand, Sofy, from reading other questions that you've asked, that you
haven't been diabetic for very long. Do you mind if I say that it's VERY
important that you find how to control your diabetes, rather than letting it
control you? Uncontrolled diabetes (raised blood sugar levels) can lead to a
whole load of complications ... some of these can be embarrassing, some a 'pain
in the butt', but some of them can lead to more dangerous things, and can even
prove fatal if you don't know what to do about them, or when you should be
reporting things to your doctor. I'm speaking from experience here, Sofy. Sadly,
for years my control was not good. I now have a multitude of complications, and
it seems that almost every time I end up in hospital they find something else
going wrong.

Luckily, I've been using a pump since 1998 which has improved my control
immeasurably. The only way they're going to get this pump from me is over my
dead body, or once they've got a cure for diabetes. (I was in a shortlist for an
islet cell transplantation operation, but was not selected. boo hoo.)

and I can truly relate to your problem. First of all, it is perfectly normal to
cry. I did, too, when I first found out. I dreaded the degenerative effects of
the disease and having to inject myself daily. But over time I have learned the
importance of good control and, believe it or not, you do get used to the
needles. An A1C of 10.5 is dangerously high and you will be so much better off
to get it under control. In a way, you are luckier than I was when I first found
out. Medicine in the area of controlling diabetes is so much more advanced than
when I first became diabetic. I now use an insulin pump, which has improved my
control substantially.
I won't lie to you -- having diabetes is not an easy road. But with time and the
support of family and friends (very important) you will learn the ins and outs

How many calories should i eat a day???

5.6 13 years old and weigh 150 and i want to weigh at most 120 how many calories
should i eat that's healthy but i can still lose weight
you should at least eat 2000 calories a day... and if you want to be like 120
pounds exercise a lot like jogging for few minutes some push ups pull ups maybe?

Depending on age I believe that 70kgs is a good weight for that

Hurt my foot at work :(?

so last night i had my shoes off and we were rearranging the sales floor. i turned around and stepped on a shelf bracket. i stepped on the small pointed edge with the ball of my foot and now it kills! i have a small bruise where i stepped on it and if i put weight on that foot it hurts real bad. i have work again this morning, anyone know what i can do to ease the pain? or am i gonna have to walk around with a limp for two-three days. and no im not going to sue my work
First thing is that the incident must be reported. It is not a law suit but a protection for both the employer and employee. As for the pain use ice on it for about fifteen to twenty minutes. You can put you foot on a bag of ice or just put the entire foot into a large basin filled with ice water. That should help to take the pain and any swelling down. Was there any puncture in the skin? If there was when was the last tetinus shot? If you have not had one in the last five years get one. The company should pay for the visit to the doctor under their insurance policy. The problem with injuring the big toe area is that it takes about fifty percent of the entire weight that the foot is bearing at anytime. Go to a pharmacy and look for Dr. Schol's products. Find adhesive foam or ready made foam cutouts. Make your own to fit your foot by cutting out a piece larger than the area where the pain is and cutting out a spot in the middle. That will allow the rim to carry the weight and avoid placing weight on the area that is painful. If all it was is a bone bruise it will take more than a few days but it will go away within about two weeks.
Take like 600mg of ibupropfen its over the counter at any drugstore. It will relieve the swelling and provide some pain relief. You can mix it with Tylenol too for extra pain relief.
Get an xray done it.

I think you are a little confused.
Menstruation is a girl's condition. You are going through puberty (which is a
condition both boys and girls experience) and your body is changing into
adulthood. (both boys and girls go through puberty).
It is a natural process that you can not produce semen as an adult. It is not
caused by anything that you have done to your body. It's just a matter of
maturity. You'll *** more forcefully within a few months.

problems, so I worry what your physical health will be like even at my age if

Is fiber suggestable for someone with IBS *W/O* the usual symptoms?

The most-understandable way for me to ask this is:
I have IBS whose only symptoms that remain is occasional nausea and very rare
abdominal pain. I want to take fiber supplements again (for overall digestive
health) but would it be recommended? I know fiber can spark the intestinal
muscles to become more active but, that seems to be what caused the symptoms in
the first place! I hope this makes sense. LOL Any thoughts?
I would think that soluble fiber might be helpful but insoluble fiber is likely
to trigger spasms.

There are two good books I would recommend for you: The First Year: IBS and
Eating for IBS by the same author, Heather Van Vorous.

She does a good job describing comfort foods/ trigger foods and why. It will be
a good guide to an attempt to add more fiber.

How can I get superglue off my teeth?

opened a tube of glue and it went all over my chin, lips, tongue and teeth. I've
got it all off except for some on my teeth. Will it come off eventually with
normal toothpaste? Its not bothering me at all, I just wondered.

And no, before you ask, I didn't open the glue with my teeth!
That darned stuff is crystalline in structure. It is like spun glass. Get a
mirror and use your fingernail and flick at it. You'll be able to get an edge
here and an edge there. The good news here is that the stuff is in a wet matrix
(inside your mouth) and that will cause it to give up the ghost fairly soon
anyway. Crazy glue is fragile. It tends to crack into small flake-like pieces
and let go when wet, over time. Lucky you. In about a week, if even that long,
95% of what is bothering you will be gone. Relax. The annoying other 5% might
take another whole week to be totally gone. Chewing food will also really help
to get rid of all of it.

off you'll probably swollow it, and it has some freaky chemicals in there!

try to scrape it off with a wooden toothpick or somethink, dont use anythink
metal or you will scratch your tooth.

Today I glued my nail which had broken at the side. I then licked it to see if
it was dry ended up with glue on my tongue which was wierd.

and frequently get superglue on me; you can usually pick it off the next day.
Cllean the teeth with alcohol 96. You can get this alcohol at your pharmacy or
chemistry.
Try lighter fluid on a cotton bud, the glue is petrolieum based. When done brush
teeth as normal.
the last time i checked, SUPER GLUE DOES NOT SQUIRT! so obviously you MUST HAVE
opened it with ur teeth. :]
USE ACETONE OR NAIL POLISH REMOVER IN A Q-TIP WILL REMOVE THE SUPERGLUE.

Just be glad you didn't get it in your eyes... umm... I'm not exactly sure if
acetone or nail polish remover (which is basically a weaker concentration of
acetone) is such a good idea to put in your mouth. I would think it would be
better to try to brush it off with toothpaste, though it might take a while, and
make sure to always spit and not swallow anything.

I mean, it's bad enough that super glue is in your mouth, I don't think it is
such a good idea to be putting more foreign chemicals in your mouth. Acetone
does break down super glue, and if it were on your hand or something, I would
say go for it, but in your mouth, not such a good idea.

Marijuana does NOT speed up your metabolism. It is a mild
hallucinogen and tranquilizer.

Is it ok to brush just once a day?

While I
think it would definitely be better to brush twice a day, it's not ENTIRELY
necessary to brush in the morning. You should absolutely brush before you go to
bed at night because the food sits on your teeth and the acid will eat away at
the enamel. The reason peopel brush their teeth in the morning is because
bacteria sits in your mouth and causes it to smell bad, but since there's no
acid on your teeth (provided you brushed before bed) then it will not damage the
enamel.

But I would still recommend brushing twice a day, especially if you want whiter
teeth.
no thats gross...i mean think about it...you eat food....and then when you sleep
without brushing your teeth the food in your mouth rots..thats why u get bad
breath while u sleep! and if u just brush ur teeth at night u get bad breath
anyway..and then go all day? i mean come on no one wants to kiss someone with
morning breath! just brush ur teeth it takes 2 minutes and makes ur mouth feel
all fresh and minty!!! and it keeps your teeth clean and cavity free if u do it
right! and white too!

Light colored period?

my period just
started today in the morning and like about 40 minutes to 6PM my period has been
comng extremely light colored.......like the color of urine but
lighter.......can someone tell me if this is normal......please dont comment
somethin stupid like "idk" or "gross"
This does not sound normal to me. I would recommend checking with your doctor as

How did stds first come about?

always thought about it. how did something like that first cme to be?
Lots of STDs have been around passed from person to person for thousands of
years, like syphillis.

Some STDs (and other diseases, like the plague) may come from animals.But not
from sex with animals as people like to say.

AIDs is thought to have originated as a primate disease (i.e. monkeys) but it
wasn't fatal to the primates. At some point humans ate primate meat or were
exposed to their blood or saliva (through a monkey bite, or butchering them, for
example), and were exposed to the virus which later mutated to become a human
disease.

Assuming that you are a male, you need to do some weight workouts. There is a

There are at least a dozen really good articles there.

Nothing will help you lose fat faster than weight workouts. It builds muscle
which burns more calories as you workout. So you just spiro up on the calorie
burning. And you get in shape one the way, toning up and probably losing weight.

I feel really worthless sometimes... how can I stop this?

It has happened more lately than ever before. People have
called me ugly in the past and I always thought I was pretty. (Not in a
conceited way,I just thought I was at least average looking) People have told me
I'm pretty..but I honestly don't feel like I am anymore. Sometimes I feel so
depressed I feel like I have nothing to live for.

Any advice would be great,thanks for your time!
I know it is hard, but it really shouldn't (and doesn't) matter what other
people think. It has taken me over 30 years to realize this. I was teased in
school because my nose is larger than the "average" persons. But now I have
learned to accept myself as being unique. I also tend to accentuate the better
features I have such as eyes and lips. Do things that make you happy and forget
everyone else. An added bonus is you will fell more confident with yourself.
The people who told you you were ugly knew that this would get to you and it
worked. They are obviously mean hateful people and their opinion should mean
nothing.
If looks are all you feel you have then you are in a sad situation. But that
isn't all you have and you know it. There are many unknown ways that you will
influence others in the future. You will discover talents you did not know you
had. You may someday be a mother, wife, grandmother and make the world a better
place. Hang in there. You have the world ahead of you to live for and many many
adventures that you never dreamed would or could happen. Just keep your heart
and your mind open.

She is correct in that YOU "MUST" find something, even if it is ONE thing you
enjoy doing and just sink yourself completely into it to the point of forgetting

He sat with a small stick and drew in the sand and only commented back to them;

stone." They ALL had to turn and walk away.
My point with this is for you to see how that Jesus threw all of himself into
keeping his own mouth closed, he kept his own self from throwing back at them or
any actions by sitting with only that stick, drawing in the sand.
Many times we get so down that we cannot even find any interest anymore. If this
be your case, just find a comfortable place and sit with a pencil and paper and
draw circles (or what-ever) just to focus your own mind in the moment of being
to help you tune out what is going on around you. There are and is always going
to be very cruel people in this world. But it doesn't mean that we too have to
be that way.
Mostly everybody goes through this,and it mostly the ones who have level
heads,to get over it,is to do not care what little piss pot people think or say
about u.U know who u are and who u want to be,dont change urself to please these
jerks,but make urself better so ur happy,,trust me in the long run,when ur happy
they will not be,thats why many pick on others because if they can bring them
down,then they feel like they just brought themselves up.

Ouch!!! My Boobs Hurt!!!!!!?

MY BOOBS HURT
soo bad, it kept getting worse over the last three days! I have never had pms
symptoms but stopped nuvaring a month ago. Could this be related to stopping
nuvaring??? Anyone else have reallly sore boobs and nipples after stopping birth
control??? A MONTH later?? yes there is also a chance i could be pregnant.
All I can tell you with my experience is that it's related to PMS. My boobs can
get sore up to almost two weeks previous to my period and can REALLY ache. I
used to not always get sore boobs before periods, even now there sometimes that
my boobs don't get sore at all so there's a possibility that you may now be
getting these symptoms.

How can I lose 1 pound a day?

Wake up get ready for school I cant walk because I always run late when I go
walking.Oh I eat breakfast apple.I come from home eat cereal(the 1 with the
dog giving his owner cereal but I get the amount I need).I go up down my
stairs since often is raining..Eat at 5:30 cereal(k amount)After 6 dont eat.
Oh how much up down shall I go my stairs to make 1 mile?
I don't know if you already are, but going vegetarian is a great way to lose
weight. Meat alternatives are awesome-tasting (I know; shocking) and only have
about a third of the calories. Fruits and vegetables fill you up; you won't be

but they're really effective, plus you can listen to music or watch TV while
you're doing them. The best way to scorch calories without spending a million
dollars on equipment is really simple: buy a jumprope. It works amazingly well.
The stairs are a great idea, too, I should try that ;] There are 5280 feet in a
mile, so measure how long your stairs are (in feet) and multiply by two (that
gives you one full set going up and then back down). Do 5280 divided by the
amount you just found and you'll get how many sets of your stairs make a mile.

i want to loose pounds too but that is not the way you at least have to eat
heavy meals 3 times a day and between that like and apple or fruit or special k
bar. but don't just have an apple for breakfast! run a lot don't stop when you
are running the mile drink lots of water! (i drink 3 liters per day)
and moderate on the sweets like on the chocolate and chips
you can do it!!!

when you dont eat every 3 hours, your body thinks its starving, so it takes your
muscle and turns it into fat. if your growing, then you should be eating more
protein, and more food in general. also, dieting at a young age causes food
problems when you're older, and makes you eat more junk. get the 3 hour diet
book for teens. it helped me lose 5 pounds in a week. i used to diet like you,
but now i diet using that book, and ive lost way more weight.
According to weight loss experts, nutritionists, etc. you shouldn't lose more
than 1 - 2 pounds per week. Losing more quickly usually leads to putting the
pounds back on. I think eating small meals like five or six and watching your
portion size is probably the best way to lose weight quickly. Also not eating
after 6 pm is good. Incorporate aerobic exercise and strength training. Adding
muscle helps you to burn fat even when you're resting. Good luck!

Can long time marijuana use lead to permanent nervous system damage?

I smoked marijuana for two and a half years just
about every day. I stopped for a couple of months, then smoked again, and I had
my first very intense anxiety attack. After this happened, my anxiety
continuously increased getting worse and worse. I noticed throughout my anxiety
attacks, and especially in the first one I had, that my vision was REALLY
disoriented and it felt like everything was spinning or flipping over. My heart
rate was very fast too.

I went to the doctor for my anxiety and they did an ANSAR test on me. They said
my sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system(s) were imbalanced and
abnormally high. I was prescribed to Alprazolam for my anxiety but it is no
longer working for me.

I get extreme anxiety when I'm not high on marijuana now too. I've stopped

Absolutely, it can cause nervous system problems. But, it doesn't take long at
all. Depression usually appears in marijuana users because their tolerance for
it has built up so much that it no longer makes them 'happy'. Instead, it does
the exact opposite. It does this when the user isn't using as well.

sometimes have flashbacks, even 10 years later. It also messed up my metabolism
and memory. The depression actually got better.

yes, weed is a medicine, its not good to take when u dont need it, just like
other medicines, if u take to much bad things can happen, and your weed may have
been laced with something stronger like speen or extacy... prolly was most weed

it only. and eat it cuz eating it doesnt do as much damage, it will still work,

I grew up with parents that smoked. I dont view it as bad because it never
stopped my parents from being great parents and providing a good live. I saw
them get up and go to work everyday, we had our home and they had 2 rental
properties in my eyes life was great.

My mother passed away in 2006 but my father is still here, and he still smokes
his pot and I dont know of any nervous system damage. I'm sure he has never been
tested for it either, and I have been around him plenty when he was on it and he
is definately not anxious or nervous.

Anyway, I would assume it affects people differently, but standing on the
outside looking in, I am 99.9% sure it has not affected my parents the way it
has affected you, and they were/are longtime users.

Increasing flexibility?

I'm having problems
increasings my leg flexibility. I have done stretching exercises for like 2
weeks for like 2- 5 min a day. The problem is im not seeing any improvement or
mild breakthrough at all...i mean cmon, im not even 18 yet..

tips or comments are appreciated, thnx!
I'm working on the same thing, with anything it takes patience and
persistence.... I'm inspired by the gymnasts and stuff so.. what I started to do
was just try to stretch after my cardio workouts, that way I'm all ready warmed
up to do it... and then once I got good at it, I made that into a warm-up for my
cardio... along with muscle training.

And, I've found that doing stretches after you workout or play a sport, makes it
easier to do the actual stretches themselves. I've seen pretty good results with
that, and with just a few weeks literally i can touch my toes standing and on
the ground and i can do backbends and high kicks.
try doing it for longer each day. as a gymnast, i know that flexibility comes
realy slowly. it took me 3 years to get my splits!

I can't get to sleep at night. Why not?

don't fall asleep for 3 hours or so, and I've tried every trick I know. Can
someone help me?
Try some warm milk before you go to sleep. Pour a glass of milk and put it in
the microwave for about a minute. I know warm milk doesn't sound very nice, but
it does help.
Natural remedies include warm milk, melatonin, valerian, 5-HTP and others that
you can find in a web search for "natural sleep remedies".
Sounds like you may have insomnia...see a doctor.

Football broken toe?

I broke my toe playng football too lol. I just kept training though, it
shouldn't take long to heal if you do want to stop though.
No let it heal it usually takes a week. Its not even football season...what are
you doing playing football im guessing its with your friends so just take the
week off till it gets a little bit better. Tap it up also it helps take some
pain away.
Tape the bad boy up and tough it out

and say you may need to rest it He'll Understand

Im 20yrs old. Weigh 62kg (137lbs). Im an Australian size 11.
Measurements:
Bust - 89cm (35 inch)
Waist - 70cm (27.5 inch)
Hips - 91cm (36 inch)
And 162cm tall. (5’4)

What do you think of my figure? Do you think I look too short and stock? I'd
really like to be more shapely... not as in bigger but slim down a little and
get a bit more shape into my legs rather than them be big like they are. Does
anyone know how I could make them skinner? Also, I think to fit model standards
I'd probably only need to lose an inch off my waist and hips. So thats pretty
doable!

My knee hurts, its been for 1 week?

im 15,
its been hurting for 3 weeks, i would do bleachers, squats, power cleans, and it
would hurt after but slightly. and then it would go away.
But last week i tried to squat but i couldnt it hurt TOO much
now when i run it hurts a little, and i cant squat or anything cause it would
hurt.
i let it rest for a week but it still hurts.
what's wrong?
It could be Runner's Knee. My brother, who is 16 was just told he had it. Look
up Runner's Knee and see if it matches your symptoms. But really, it's not that
serious, and is actually pretty common for teens and adults.

Try to follow R.I.C.E.: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.

I have woken this morning to find my right, upper eyelid twitching uncontrollably. Why?

Help on losing fat.?

I just got done my
bulking up phase, and now i want to get cut/lean. What is a good way or routine
to do so. I know i have to eat 500 calories less than i am required to lose
weight, but i don't want to lose any muscle. Please help. Also i know cardio
helps alot, and i think its less sets, more reps to lose weight and more sets,
less reps to bulk up. Any suggestions will help.
I think we spend too much time on calorie counting. When working out you need to
eat more not less and make sure it's healthy with lots of protein. I would have
done cardio first lose weight and then hit the weights hard to burn fat faster
and bulk up. Then just to more reps and less weight to maintain.
Keep up with squats, abdominal and obliques, treadmill(increasing reps) and
another great way is boxing and/or martial arts are sure to keep you lean
without losing muscle

With cardio make sure you change and intensify your routine every so
often

Could this make me lose weight? Any dieticians?

I want to try a diet,,, About 1 year, can you also give me an
estimate as to how much I would lose in that time?
I am not going to stop eating certain foods but I will limit the amount I eat to
normal portions,,, I won't do any excercises either.... Will this work? When

no becuz exercising will help prevent ur cravings and u can gain muscle which
will help u lose weight u must exercise even walking daily would help

I have had psoriasis on my scalp for about 12 years, I WANT IT GONE!!! : (?

I have had it one my scalp for about 12 years.
I am sick and tired of it! My dermatologists is a B**** and just looks at it,
writes a prescription down, tells me there is NO cure after i express how bad it

one of those conditions that will exacerbate and die down over time. There are

Good luck! I know it's gotta suck, but there are other options. I've lived with
eczema (not the same thing, but just a pain in the butt) most of my life but

i have the same problem for about 4 years my doctor gave me shampoo and drops
that have done just about nothing...recently my barber said it looked as if the
psoriasis was healed and that using the special shampoo every day was drying my

there is no cure. it sometimes is stress related. it's not a sickness like a
virus it's hereditary. so try some destressing techniques. like taking a bubble

Here's what I've found..... my body PH plays a huge part in how severe, how
persistent, and how noticeable it is.
I manipulate my PH with baking soda [OR] vinegar in my diet. Try the Soda
first.. it gets results for me usually quicker than does vinegar.
Vinegar clears it if i have been negligent over a period of time and let my
health get compromised or have gotten stressed out for a while.
Nether vinegar nor soda are cure-all ... it's still a problem for me... but the

foods, and your body still has a lot of the food in your system, trying to break

It depends on the person. I know people in my own family who can't eat when
stressed while some, me included will eat all the wrong stuff for at leasr a day
and then have to make up for that indulgence later.
Stress kills a lot more than my appetite...e.g. it absolutely kills my will to
speak. So it has a 'shutting-my-mouth-tightly' kind of effect...like Lockjaw
(only its not overtly fatal).
Well, when I am stressed, I generally find that I get hungrier, or that is maybe
me comfort eating. It all depends on the individual.

Protein Shake Question...?

So I am drinking
protein shakes made with mass xxx from GNC, and I usually just use what is
called "one jumbo scoop" or 1/2 scoop into a glass of milk, even though it
recommends for every scoop you use 3 glasses of milk, will that have any
difference in the digestion or processing of the shake - if i only have 1 glass
of milk for a scoop instead of 3?

Lucid dreams: mit it be manifestation of mental health problems?

i have been having lucid dreams for quite a while now. i
snap out sleep quite first. sort of sensitive when sleeping even though im
dreaming. im kinda aware im dreaming most of the time. have problems attaining a

As far as I know, there's no link between lucid dreams and mental health issues.
However, there is with not getting into a deep REM sleep. In other words, you
are not sleeping deeply. Maybe something is bothering you? Or, it's too much
caffeine? The more obvious answers usually are the answer.

I've only had one or two lucid dreams and they are just incredible. Everything
looks so vivid and colourful, I wish I could live in a lucid dream.

cross the street, you'd think that pretty odd and would probably pinch yourself
to see if you were dreaming. In a dream state you would usually just accept the

Also if you practice meditation, this can enhance the chance of having lucid

i don't know much about it, but it seems like maybe you're just not sleeping
very well or deeply, and that's why you keep having the lucid dreams. i've only
