I
just turned 14 on Friday. I got my first period in Oct. (7 months ago). It been
irregular. It came on March 28th, and lasted for 24 days (till April 20th), but
it was mostly really light. It didn't come again until yesterday, and it was
light/normal until about noon yesterday. It was really really heavy...like using
a tampon every 30 minutes (regular size).
During the night, my mom stayed with me, and gave me super tampons. Super
tampons lasted about an hour, and from 3:50 am until 9:30 am, a super tampon
lasted, and that was about all the sleep I got. I then had to change super
tampons at 10:00 am, 10:30 am, 11:00, 1:30, 4:00, 6:00, 7:30 (regular tampon),
8:15. This is always with a pad and I changed about 15 minutes after the tampon
started to leak.
If it hasn't slowed down by tomorrow, my mom's going to take me to a doctor. But
for now, how can I get some sleep?
Help please???? Tips for not having to get up every hour at night, make it
lighter, etc. Thanks!
Usually it takes between a year to a year and a half for periods to become
regulated. During this time it is quite normal to experience period
abnormalities. However, changing one or more pads or tampons in an hour or less
is considered excessive bleeding and needs to be seen by a doctor immediately as
this can lead to anemia. So I would make a trip to the ER if the bleeding is
excessive, rather than waiting to see your regular doctor in person. Quite
possibly you have a hormonal imbalance. In this case a doctor would check your
levels via blood test, and give you something to stop the bleeding.
If you wanna sleep, use pads. Buy the really big overnight Maxi ones. You have
to keep changing a tampon every few hours anyway so you won't get toxic shock
syndrome or an infection, but with pads you don't have to worry about any of
that!
They feel a little bit weird, especially the big ones, just to let you know. But
it's the only way you can sleep for a long time without getting up. It's not
recommended to wear tampons while asleep anyway.
First, this is pretty normal for girls when they began menstruating. Second,
avoid ibuprofen (as it caues bleeding), and avoid a lot of physical exertion.
In my opinion, take a bath,Tylenol P.M., and go to bed. See a gyn. tomorrow, and
consider starting the pill which will regulate your flow.
Best of luck, and welcome to the wonderful world of menstruation! Ha.
I think your mom should make an appt for you asap...tell her to call first thing
tomorrow morning. Chances are your doc will put you on some sort of oral
contraceptive (birth control) to stop the flow.
I don't have any immediate relief to add to the mix, but to put a big-thick,
extra long overnight pad on and sleep with a thick towel underneath you.
well i went to the doctor yesterday and she said that usually when you first get
your period, it starts off irregular. u shouldnt keep changing ur tampon too
much. my mom says to try to stay with one, and only if its really really heavy.
like it takes up the WHOLE tampon. thats the best advice i can give u
Hmm. I've had that problem.
Try eating fruit. That usually helps.
Even taking an ibuprofen or midol really slows it down.
To not get up every hour I'dsay try to not think about it.
Or take the pills as I said earlier.
I hope this helps and it gets better!
Go to the doctor!! and u can try wearing both at the same time (it may work but
b kinda uncomfertable) or u can wear a diaper ( not kidding) just lik an adult
diapper so u can least get sum rest , sry bout the last 1 but hey it may help
untill u go 2 the doctor goodluck! =]
You need a doctor now, right now..please go!!
DO NOT TAKE TYLENOL OR ASPIRIN> THIS WILL CAUSE YOU TO BLEED MORE>DON'T APPLY
HEAT
I'm a nurse, take my word for it and go. You've lost too much blood for it to be
a regular period.
Well, you should try to take a hot bath. That always helps me. Or you could use
a heating pad. Try using a pad and lay on a towel? that might also help.
for the 1st year of ur period it will skip around alot. eventually it will
become regular but fo now dont worry. its super normal.
Well usually the first year or so it will be kind of irregular. but that sounds
like unusually irregular!!!
you shouldnt be bleeding that much, see a doctor, NOW! have your mom take you to
the emergency room.
You need to go to the doctor - NOW! Don't wait until tomorrow!
That doesnt sound right, go to the doctor.
just wait till doctor nothin else u can do
i believe green tea is supposed to help
