I have been
lifting for about 3 years, heavily.. and now I'm pretty big.. 230 muscle, cut..
Hurt my shoulder and I'm worried that I will lose what I have gained. Shouldn't
it take just as much time to lose as it took to gain???
There's a way to keep the muscles without using them...
By implanting electrodes (invasive but can easily be done by a doctor's
appointment) under the skin tissue can keep yourself from losing your muscle.
How it works: By stimulating pulses, the electrode can make sure your muscle is
used frequently (lactic acid buildup--then cells generate to build on that
muscle).
Make sure you do not tear your muscle any longer, ask your doctor if it is right
for you.
Some of my guy friends do this when they've broken a bone. No problems so far.
no, you lose muscle mass at a much quicker rate then you gain it. Muscles
generally start atrophying (decrease in size) after 24-48 hours without
exercising.
