I had a root canal done
six days ago. I felt a significant amount of pain and swelling/infection after
the anesthetic wore off. This pain lasted about four days though I can still
feel it. Now that the pain is tolerable, I'm not looking forward to going back
to get the crown (just in case there's more awful pain after the numbness wears
off again). Any experiences to share?
It should not, nothing usually compares to post-operative pain after a root
canal treatment, you should be in the clear now, and the crown procedure should
go smoother. The sooner you do it the better since root canal treated teeth are
known to be more fragile.
You have to get the crown done. No choice. The root canal shouldn't be hurting
that much afterward. Call your dentist asap. The crown part is easier than the
rc - it takes less time also. Once you get the crown on, you'll be glad you went
thru with it. PS After you get the shot, relax in the chair. You won't feel any
pain during the procedure. Sit there and think about something fun, or try to go
to sleep. Good luck.
When the root canal was done, the nerve was removed. The tooth is now dead.
There will still be some pain involved, but nothing like the root canal.
