Terrified of the dentist!! HELP!?

help me...

I'm just to scared to go to the dentist...i've cancelled my last 3 opointments
now.

I've never really liked the dentist or anything but i used to just put up with
it and go.
Then once my tooth started hurting and it was just to unbearable so i HAD to
make an emergency appointmet and go. Whilst the dentist was looking at the tooth
he stuck his metal poker thing in it(my tooth). I've never felt so much pain in
my life...i practically jumped out the chair!
It turned out i had a cavity and he filled it..which was also horrible(but he
numbed it so wasnt unbearable or anything).

Since then i've just never been back...it makes me feel sick even thinking about
it.
A couple of my teeth are starting to hurt and one of them doesnt look so good.
They both have a greyish line about 1mm from the gum on the tooth aswell.

I'm just so scared what will happen when i go.
Can i tell him not to touch them?

go to the dentist! or else it could turn into much worse.

you will be much more comfortable if you ask him what he is going to do, or what
will happen, before he does anything.

so just tell him up front, "doc, can you tell me what you are going to do here
today, so that i'm prepared and not thrown off guard. thank you."

If you think it will help then ask him to warn you if something will hurt. Also,
are you sure he is the right dentist for you? If your insurance or allows then
you might want to consider changing dentists. Find one that other people in your
area say are good with scared patients. I think some specialize in scared
patients.

Ask the office for laughing gas.

They will relax you and you won't be scared.
On the papers they give u to fill out,sometimes it will ask if you have had any
bad experiences with an other dentist.Just tell them all about it!! I know what
your talking about. I was the same years ago. I hated, dreaded, cried, wouldn't
go unless I had to. I finally realized it was much better to go for check ups
than to go when I was in so much pain.Now, all my teeth are fine and I'm soon to
get my braces off. He'll probably give you some med. Sounds like it is getting
ready to abscess. Go now and don't let it get any worse. You will be fine, I
promise.
